The Rhythm Foundation, an award-winning cultural nonprofit, is the leading presenter of world music in the United States. Founded with the goal of raising international awareness through live music, it produces live performances by established artists from around the world, from the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India and more. She was also recognized as one of the best music schools in South Florida for her instrumental music program.
There were other awards in the 2015-2016 school year, as the instrumental program received a superior rating for the ensemble at the 2016 Tampa Bay Classic Festival. The 2017 Marching Indoor Winds came in second place in the state of Florida, adding to Doral's list of awards in its first year of competition.
In January 2018, Mr. Ercilla was invited to present a new clinical session for the Florida Music Educators Association. He also attended a session entitled "Dealing with Hearing Loss in a Music Education Environment," presented at the American Association of School Music Teachers (AASMT) annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, and was also a member of the Board of Directors of Florida State University School of Music.
Mr. Ercilla will lead the orchestra for the 2017 / 18 school year, with a focus on music education and performance. The socially-distanced event will include a live event at Florida State University School of Music and will consist of an initial band, a marching band, an orchestra and a marching band. This event was made possible by the generous support of Dr. John and his family and a generous donation of $10,000 from the Foundation.
